Typically, company systems are used to “polish” streams of water produced in association with oil or gas after treatment by conventional physical processes, and as an “end of pipe” solution before such water is disposed of to sea, water course, sewer, or re-injected back into the formation. Following extensive development in the laboratory and subsequent testing at a wide variety of production sites funded by several major oil companies, the company has ongoing rental contracts and is ready to finalise design and building of a standard range of products for both sale and rental. The Development Engineer will assume responsibility for all aspects of the technical design and development of these systems, interact with subcontractors during their manufacture, follow systems into the field and provide on-site support to clients during commissioning and training of their operator personnel. He/she will also be the focal point of contact for clients for service and technical enquiries, travelling to operational sites on - or offshore to troubleshoot any problems which may occur. Qualifications and Experience: The system equipment and processes involve elements of produced water chemistry, process design, mechanical design including structural, pumps and pipework, and electrical/electronic control systems and instrumentation. The Development Engineer should thus have a sound educational and practical background in at least one of these disciplines, with a good level of understanding of the others. Specific product and process training will however be provided. The successful candidate MUST have had previous offshore experience in a service or engineering capacity with an oil services operator, and be comfortable travelling and working offshore with sufficient confidence to work alone and unsupported. Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of ATEX legislation and the Pressure Equipment Directive are important. Ideally he/she will have had some prior experience of produced water treatment processes and the legislation surrounding the disposal of waste. The Development Engineer is likely to have worked within the engineering department of a larger organisation and be capable of bringing disciplines relating to document management and QA systems, together with an ability to write clear, concise reports in good English on engineering and technical matters. Some previous experience of managing the delivery of small projects through subcontractors would also be an advantage. Following extensive development in the laboratory and subsequent testing at a wide variety of production sites funded by several major oil companies, the company has ongoing rental contracts and is ready to finalise design and building of a standard range of products for both sale and rental. The Development Engineer will assume responsibility for all aspects of the technical design and development of these systems, interact with subcontractors during their manufacture, follow systems into the field and provide on-site support to clients during commissioning and training of their operator personnel. He/she will also be the focal point of contact for clients for service and technical enquiries, travelling to operational sites on - or offshore to troubleshoot any problems which may occur. Qualifications and Experience: The system equipment and processes involve elements of produced water chemistry, process design, mechanical design including structural, pumps and pipework, and electrical/electronic control systems and instrumentation. The Development Engineer should thus have a sound educational and practical background in at least one of these disciplines, with a good level of understanding of the others. Specific product and process training will however be provided. Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of ATEX legislation and the Pressure Equipment Directive are important. Profile Qualified to HNC or ONC in electronics, and with a number of years experience in the servicing of UPS Systems or similar power electronics equipment, suitable candidates will have experience in fault finding and repair. Presentable and with clear communication, determined to get the job finished so as to leave customers satisfied. Self motivated, and able to work unsupervised. Flexible and able to work out of normal hours when necessary. The role As one of the companys Service Engineers, the jobholder will be responsible for visiting customers sites in order to carry out Commissioning, routine maintenance and emergency repairs of the companys products. Maintaining the companys high standards of customer care, being able to communicate clearly with customers and work closely with a close knit team (electrical, admin, sales, technical staff). Clear understanding of safe working practices while working on high energy electrical circuits. The reward: Basic salary will be based on around £20k to £25k per annum, depending on experience. The company has a stakeholder pension scheme, and will match contributions up to 3% of salary after one year. Hours of work are 8.30 to 5.00, with 20 days annual leave plus an unspecified Christmas shutdown period. Significant overtime opportunity.
